International Research Center for Synergistic
Battery–Electrolysis Technologies

About us
Innovation and Synergy in Next-Generation Battery and Electrolysis Technologies
Our center is built around the JST ASPIRE for Rising Scientists program, “Establishing a Global Research Hub for Synergistic Battery-Electrolysis Technologies.” Through international collaborative research between early-career researchers at Yokohama National University and researchers from around the world, the center aims to advance both battery and electrolysis technologies and promote synergy between these two fields.

Research
At this center, two traditionally distinct research areas—batteries and electrolysis—are integrated at an advanced level to promote the development of innovative energy conversion technologies that contribute to a carbon-neutral society. Through international collaboration with world-leading researchers, the center brings together expertise in advanced interface design, reaction control, and novel materials development.
Each core research group contributes its unique strengths and complements one another, enabling the creation of highly efficient and sustainable next-generation electrochemical systems that go beyond conventional limitations.
